Michèle Caussin-Bellon - Tadelakt Alchemist
Under the evocative name "POUPÉE," Michèle Caussin-Bellon stands out in the contemporary art world for her almost mystical mastery of Tadelakt, an ancient and captivating technique inherited from Moroccan artisans. Like a painter sculpting light, she transforms marble powder into a living, satiny material, where each gesture becomes an intimate dance with the material. Nicknamed "the painter of marble with a velvety touch," she infuses her works with a palpable sensuality, where abstraction blends with fleeting memories of reality.
Trained at the prestigious Beaux-Arts school, a graduate of the École Camondo in Design and Interior Architecture, and enriched by her time at the École du Louvre, Poupée has long navigated the figurative and abstract. His early works, marked by figuration, betray a deep desire to capture the essence of human emotions, while his later creations, inspired by his teacher and friend Jacques Truphémus, soar towards a pure abstraction, vibrant with movement and color.

Using subtle mixtures of plaster, stone, water and air, enhanced with natural pigments, she applies a thick coating to wood or canvas, shaped by tools that seem to extend the life of her hands. Speed and precision combine to defy the transience of evaporation, each trowel becoming an extension of her creative vision.
Poupée's work transcends borders, nestling in private collections around the world, and has graced the walls of prestigious galleries in the United States, Brazil, China, Japan and beyond. They have been celebrated with numerous awards and distinctions, testifying to the international recognition of his creative genius, including a medal from the Arts-Sciences et Lettres in 2017 and a distinction from the Polish Ministry of Culture in 2023.
Renowned museums such as the Hermitage in St Petersburg, the Henan Museum of Fine Arts and the Kajita Museum in Japan are among the guardians of his work, ensuring his artistic approach a place of choice in the pantheon of contemporary art.
